Gravity duals to deformed SYM theories and Generalized Complex Geometry

We analyze the supersymmetry conditions for a class of SU(2) structure backgrounds of Type IIB supergravity, corresponding to a specific ansatz for the supersymmetry parameters. These backgrounds are relevant for the AdS/CFT correspondence since they are suitable to describe mass deformations or beta-deformations of four-dimensional superconformal gauge theories. Using Generalized Complex Geome...

Topology and classical geometry in (2+1) gravity

The structure of the spacetime geometry in (2+1) gravity is described by means of a foliation in which the space-like surfaces admit a tessellation made of polygons. The dynamics of the system is determined by a set of ’t Hooft’s rules which specify the time evolution of the tessellation. We illustrate how the non-trivial topology of the universe can be described by means of ’t Hooft’s formalis...

Marginally deformed Starobinsky gravity

We show that quantum-induced marginal deformations of the Starobinsky gravitational action of the form R2(1−α), with R the Ricci scalar and α a positive parameter smaller than one half, can generate sizable primordial tensor modes. We also suggest natural microscopic sources of these corrections and demonstrate that they generally lead to a nonzero and positive α. Furthermore we argue, that wit...

κ-deformed gauge theory and θ-deformed gravity

Noncommutative (deformed, quantum) spaces are deformations of the usual commutative space-time. They depend on parameters, such that for certain values of parameters they become the usual space-time. The symmetry acting on them is given in terms of a deformed quantum group symmetry. In this work we discuss two special examples, the θ-deformed space and the κ-deformed space. In the case of the θ...

Deformed Reissner–Nordstrom solutions in noncommutative gravity

The leading order corrections to Reissner–Nordstrom solutions of the Einstein’s equations on noncommutative space time have been worked out basing on a noncommutative gauge theory of gravity. From the corrcted metric the horizons have been derived and the curvature scalar is also computed. The introduction of noncommutativity leads to the removal of the coordinate singularities.
